January 25th, 2024: Laurel Yohe, Ph.D. (University at North Carolina at Charlotte): "From finding figs to stopping SARS-CoV-2: what we can learn from bat noses."
About Laurel: Dr. Laurel Yohe is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioinformatics and Genomics at UNC Charlotte. She completed her undergraduate Bioinformatics degree at Loyola University Chicago. Upon graduation, she completed a Google Summer of Code Fellowship managing phylogenetic repositories and a year-long Fulbright Fellowship in Vietnam modeling bird species distributions for conservation. She completed her PhD in Evolutionary Biology at Stony Brook University, and a three-year postdoc at Yale University before beginning her position at UNC Charlotte.
