Campus Posters Guidelines

Facilities Management’s campus posting guidelines aim to establish effective use of posting space within University buildings and grounds. Due to life safety, sustainability, and facility upkeep, posting is only allowed on designated walls and bulletin boards. Postings on campus grounds are allowed only on bulletin boards or other locations designated for that purpose.

To minimize the risk of facility damage, fire, and the impeding of quick and safe egress from buildings in an emergency, posting is not allowed in the following locations:

In stair enclosures or on stair railings;
On doors or windows, including translucent glass block windows;
On lights or heaters;
In or on elevators;
On floors;
On furniture;
Attached to or covering fire extinguishers, hose cabinets, exit markers, or any other safety equipment;
In any other location where they might constitute a safety hazard.

Please refrain from posting on finished surfaces such as wood veneer, wallpaper, and painted walls. Failure to abide by the guidelines will result in removal of signage and fees to offset damages sustained by facilities.

If a space can benefit from a bulletin board, please submit a work order under “common area furniture” and request a bulletin board. A facilities staff member will determine if additional posting space is appropriate or will suggest alternative location.
