Research Experience for Master’s Award 2024

The Graduate School is proud to announce the recipients of our 2024 Research Experience for Master’s (REM) award for this Spring, Max Pins (History) and Kaitlin Jones (Sociology). REM is awarded to master’s students in the Graduate School who will not be completing a thesis as part of their degree but have a strong interest in research. They will work in concert with their faculty advisors and present their research later this semester at the Interdisciplinary Graduate Research Symposium on Saturday, April 13.

Max Pins will be working with Dr. Alice Weinreb studying societal attitudes surrounding body image, specifically the history and development of the Fat Liberation Movement. Kaitlin Jones will be collaborating with a Chicago non-profit, Paint the City, to review how their organization views protest through a creative lens, how their work intersects with partner organization Paint the Schools, and potential growth opportunities. We encourage everyone to check out the results of their work at the symposium in April!
