Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)

The Office of Global and Community Engagement is pleased to announce the expansion of virtual global learning options at LUC, uniting our classrooms with students around the world. Loyola is excited to launch the COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) initiative, which involves supporting LUC faculty who collaborate or co-teach courses or projects with international colleagues at partner universities.

COIL is an immersive international experience in which LUC students will have shared lectures, readings, assignments, and interactions synchronously or asynchronously with students at an international partner university. This initiative encourages the incorporation of global learning opportunities into our courses and provides access-focused international learning for all students.

To support the growth of this initiative and assist in the implementation of COIL into your classes, the university has created a self-paced instruction preparation module to help instructors interested in incorporating COIL into their courses. This module will provide course delivery tips, highlight pedagogical innovation of COIL, and discuss expected learning outcomes. To gain access to the module or to learn more about this initiative, please email us at globalvirtual@luc.edu.
