Online Teaching Readiness Requirement

All newly hired online instructors and existing Loyola instructors new to teaching online are required to complete OOL's Online Teaching Fundamentals course before or during their first term teaching online at the university.

Note: Online instructors do not have to complete the Online Teaching Fundamentals course if they meet any of the following criteria:

• Taught online courses at Loyola University Chicago prior to Fall 2023 (excluding the emergency remote teaching period from SP20-SP21) 
• Have completed both of the legacy Online Teaching Courses: Design and Facilitate
• Have completed the Online Teaching Fundamentals Competency Equivalent
  

Online Teaching Fundamentals Competency Equivalent

Newly hired instructors with significant online teaching experience at other institutions, defined as a minimum of two (2) academic years or four (4) semesters of teaching online, may complete an alternate, competency-based option to satisfy the online teaching readiness requirement.
