Student engagement events

Throughout the year, the Office of Student Life hosts several signature events celebrating the Parkinson School and students in all four academic departments: Applied Health Sciences, Health Informatics & Data Science, Healthcare Administration, and Public Health Sciences. We invite you to explore our events and learn how you can participate!

PARKINSON WELCOME WEEK PICNIC

At the beginning of each new school year, the Parkinson School invites all faculty, staff, and students to come together in community for celebration picnics at both the Lake Shore and Health Sciences Campuses.

EXERCISE SCIENCE WEEK

Every March, the Parkinson School celebrates its Exercise Science program with a week of activities, such as yoga, resume workshops, and meet-and-greets with faculty and students. Learn more about the Exercise Science Week!

PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK

In April, the Parkinson School is proud to partner with the American Public Health Association to recognize National Public Health Week – a time for us to celebrate the power of community, share strategies for successful partnerships, and champion the role of a strong public health system.

MEDICAL LABORATORY PROFESSIONALS WEEK

Hidden away in hospital laboratories across the country is a group of heroes responsible for getting the results health care teams rely on every day. While their contributions to health care often go unnoticed, once a year, we take the time to recognize these outstanding individuals during Medical Laboratory Professionals Week.

COMMENCEMENT WEEK

In addition to University events, the Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health wants to celebrate our graduates in the days leading up to Commencement. Explore the schedule of events for Commencement Week and how you can help celebrate our graduating class!

EVENING OF EXCELLENCE

The Evening of Excellence provides an opportunity for students to celebrate their scholarly accomplishments with an interdisciplinary group of faculty and students. Students completing a Master of Public Health and/or Master of Science degree share their capstone projects, engage in scholarly discourse, and learn from fellow students and faculty.

MAGIS AWARDS

Open to all graduates, families, friends, and the larger community, the Celebration of the Magis acknowledges outstanding undergraduate students with the annual Magis Awards. Magis is a Latin word meaning "more" or "greater" and is related to the phrase "ad majorem Dei gloriam," the motto of the Society of Jesus and Loyola University Chicago. Learn more about the Magis Awards and other student recognition opportunities.
