SOC alumnus to speak at December commencement

This year’s December Commencement Speaker will be Everett Gutierrez Jr. He was the first Public Relations and Advertising graduate from the School of Communication along with a second degree in Organizational Leadership and Development from Loyola University Chicago. Gutierrez also holds a Master’s Degree in Management from North Park University and an Executive Master’s of Leadership degree from Georgetown University's School of Business.

Gutierrez has worked with audiences throughout the United States, South Africa, Europe, and Canada with a passion for developing people through leadership enrichment initiatives. He has more than 15 years of award-winning achievements in delivering training experiences, managing teams, and creating processes for diverse audiences. He draws upon his extensive knowledge of business and communication work to teach adults as an adjunct professor at North Park University. Additionally, he has also written a book called Chosen: A Call to Leading with Purpose to help leaders better understand themselves as they lead others.

His contributions and connection to the national and international public have allowed him the privilege to train over 30,000 people from various Fortune 100 and 500 corporations, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations. His work has led him to receive the "Reflecting Excellence Award," be recognized as a nominee for "Latino Entrepreneur of the Year," and earn an "Inspirational Author Award". He was also noted by the City of Chicago as an Impact Leader for his contributions to leadership development. Throughout his life mission and the vision he has set for his company, Legacy Leaders, he is committed to developing world changers with the highest performance standards.

Gutierrez will speak at this year’s SOC Fall Commencement, held in Regents Hall on December 15th from 10 a.m. to noon.
