Student Life at Loyola

Pursing a professional degree in social work requires hard work, dedication, and much sacrifice. It also however requires self-care, community, and extracurricular outlets that foster balance and overall well-being.

Some organizations and resources that provide such community and outlets along with networking and professional development opportunities, include:

School of Social Work Student Organization (SSWSO): a School of Social Work student organization that plans and participates in social justice events, utilizing social work skills outside of academia, and developing professional community.

Social Workers of Color Alliance (SWOCA): a School of Social Work student organization that plans networking, social gatherings, and social justice events that reflect diverse populations and perspectives.

Praxis: a School of Social Work academic student journal that provides a forum for students to express their diverse viewpoints while learning and be inspiring by the ideas/viewpoints of others.

Water Tower Campus Life: a student development unit on Loyola’s Water Tower Campus that provide programs and events for graduate, professional, and adult students.

Graduate, Professional, and Adult Council (GPAC): a university council that represents all graduate, professional, and adult students, promoting and encouraging interaction among graduate students at the University

Terry Student Center: the core of the Water Tower Campus where students can easily access campus resources and find respite from the rigors of academic life.
