What is your favorite thing about working at Loyola?
My favorite thing about working at Loyola is being part of such a caring, supportive and intellectual community. I have worked alongside and learned from some of the most inspiring leaders, colleagues and professors who have challenged me, mentored me and encouraged me to grow both professionally and personally. While I have been a full-time employee for over eight years, I first joined the Loyola community in 2000 as an undergraduate student in the College of Arts and Science. As an undergrad, I worked in various student worker roles across all three campuses, and spent a semester abroad at the John Felice Rome Center. My first full-time position at Loyola was as a gift processing specialist in our Advancement Division. A short time later, I joined the Finance Division as the procurement card administrator in Accounts Payable and later served as e-commerce coordinator for our Treasurer’s Office. In 2010, I graduated from Loyola’s Graduate School of Business with an MBA, and a few years later, began to serve as chair for the Loyola Limited Council of Advisors. This past summer, I joined the School of Nursing as the director of finance and business operations and am truly enjoying working more closely with the academic side of the University. Over the past 15 years, I have made so many wonderful friends and memories, and have always found great pleasure and pride in both my academic and professional roles. I hope to be a part the Loyola community for many more years to come.
What is your most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee?
One of my most memorable achievements as a Loyola employee was helping the Loyola Limited group launch and establish their first student-run business, the Loyola Flats. As part of an entrepreneurship course in the MBA program, I worked on a team tasked with developing a marketing plan for the Flats. Once Capital Planning was given the go-ahead to proceed with the project, I was eager to help the students get familiar with finance, human resources and information technology policies and procedures. While my role was small, I provided that first group of students with the support and knowledge they needed to be compliant and up and running quickly. It makes me very proud to see how much the program has grown and how successful it has become in helping Loyola students get a truly unique and hands-on education.
What does Loyola's mission mean to you?
I have always loved to learn and find great pride in serving the community and helping others. My core values align easily with Loyola’s mission, and I am confident that my hard work and dedication help our organization and our educators as we work to expand knowledge in the service of humanity, justice, and faith. Furthermore, I love when my job allows me to work alongside students. I truly enjoy mentoring students, hearing about their goals and plans, and encouraging them as they grow.
What motivates you to succeed each and every day?
At Loyola, I am surrounded by so many hardworking, dedicated people who are committed to bringing forth quality education and making advances with research. I am motivated to be excellent so that our faculty and researchers can do what they do best. At every turn and with each role I’ve played at Loyola, I have been inspired by someone different and am always amazed at how much Loyolans are doing every day.
Tell us how you show your Rambler pride.
I wear my favorite Loyola baseball cap almost every weekend when going to the gym, running errands, or out just enjoying the city. It’s often a conversation starter that helps me to connect with other Loyola alumni, or people interested in joining the Loyola community. I love to discuss my long history at Loyola and never pass up the opportunity to talk about my experience in Rome.
Tell us something most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you.
I am a kidney donor! I donated a kidney to my father two years ago this Valentine’s Day.
