What is your favorite thing about working at Loyola?
The diversity of my job and the interactions with colleagues, students, and clients/guests.
What is your most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee?
One of our clients was to have their awards banquet for 80 people in the Signature Room in the John Hancock building on the Saturday of the Lights Festival in November. Earlier in the day, a fire had broken out in the John Hancock building, which eventually led the Signature Room calling to say that they had to evacuate and would not be able to host the banquet. The call came in at around 4:30 p.m. and by 6 p.m. the banquet was held at a restaurant, in a private dining room, with barely any changes to the menu the client had originally ordered for the evening. Yet, with that being said, helping to guide and assist a student to help them grow and learn, and in doing so, you get a thank you from their parent, is the achievement that means the most.
What does Loyola's mission mean to you?
Respecting people for their beliefs, reaching out to those in need, and working together for the best of the University and ultimately, the world.
What motivates you to succeed each and every day?
I like to be of service and help to problem-solve for those that I come in contact. My dad used to tell me that you should always have a mentor, someone you can talk to that will help you when you make mistakes and provide encouragement to help get over any hurdles. I have had many mentors in my careers, and I am very appreciative for all who took the time to invest in me, so if I can pay it forward. I feel I’ve been successful with that.
Tell us how you show your Rambler pride.
I try to support the student activities and organizations. I wear the school colors as much as possible, as well as have something Loyola on most all the time.
Tell us something most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you.
I’m a farm girl and used to raise cattle, sheep, pigs, and bees and helped my brother with his sweet corn, selling it at farmers markets.
