Food Safety Policy

For the full Food Policy, please see the RSO Handbook. Below are a few common highlights:

Preparation

DO NOT PREPARE ANY FOOD AT HOME (includes residence halls) - home prepared foods are strictly prohibited. Only prepackaged, store bought or donated items may be sold. All baked goods must be from authorized food establishments and must be portioned out for single servings.

All purchased or donated food must come from a Preferred Vendor. Need to add a restaurant to the Preferred Vendors list? Contact CSE.

Any event being held in an Aramark space during hours of operation must use Aramark services.
Cookouts or grilling are prohibited unless Aramark or Center for Student Engagement approved vendor is used as the food service provider. Vendor must supply and cook food.

Serving

Food should be served by the student organization, using the necessary utensils (large serving spoons, tongs, etc). A “self-serve” style is prohibited. Gloves must be worn when selling or serving food. CSE can provide plastic gloves to RSOs.

No eating, drinking or smoking is allowed while engaged in food handling. Wash hands after eating, drinking or smoking before resuming food handling.
