Bike Challenge 2023
Loyola Gets Rolling During the Bike Commuter Challenge
The Chicago area’s 2023 Bike Commuter Challenge kicks off on May 15, and Loyola University Chicago is competing. The friendly competition challenges local businesses, schools, and organizations to earn points by commuting by bicycle and logging their rides. The nonprofit Active Transportation Alliance organizes the challenge to promote cycling as a healthy and environmentally friendly form of transportation.
Join the Rolling Ramblers
All members of the Loyola community who are on campus during the challenge can join the team and help Loyola compete with other local colleges and universities for cycling glory. To participate, register at www.biketoworkchallenge.org and join the existing team called “Rolling Ramblers – Loyola University of Chicago.” Then ride your bike and log your rides during the competition to be eligible to win prizes and recognition.
The challenge runs for a month, from May 15 through June 11, and all riders can stop for refreshments and prizes at pit stops hosted by Loyola’s Office of Sustainability during the event. Visit the pit stops from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on May 23 on the Water Tower Campus, May 24 on the Lake Shore Campus, and May 25 on the Health Sciences Campus.
The challenge is a region-wide competition, and every ride counts. Join the Rolling Ramblers and enjoy an active, sustainable commute.
