Celebrate Earth Week at Loyola
Earth Day is April 22, 2024, and at Loyola, we’re extending the celebrations for an entire week with events hosted by the Office of Sustainability and campus student organizations. The week offers opportunities to reflect on our sustainability achievements and refresh our commitment to protecting the earth and its inhabitants. Join the events below to learn, celebrate, and connect with other members of the Loyola community who are passionate about environmental sustainability.
Eco Prom
Saturday, April 13, 7 p.m.
Damen Student Center, Sister Jean Multipurpose Room
Student Environmental Alliance, Food Recovery Network, and the Restoration Club will host an EcoProm. Guests are encouraged to wear sustainable, secondhand outfits and enjoy food, dancing, and fun.
Fair Trade Coffee Tasting
Wednesday, April 17, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Engrained Café, San Franciso Hall
Come to Engrained to sample a variety of fair-trade coffees. Fair-trade certified coffee comes from farmers who use sustainable practices and receive a fair price for their products.
Mass for the Endangered
Sunday, April 21, 3 p.m.
Madonna della Strada Chapel
Ignatian Voices, University Chorale, and University Singers, and guest musicians from The EcoVoice Project will present the premiere of Kyrie and Gloria of Missa Laudato Si’ (Dongryul Lee, composer) paired with Sarah Kirkland Snider's Mass for the Endangered. Students will read excerpts from the Pope Francis’ 2015 encyclical, Laudato Si’, between movements.
