Sam J. Marzo

Dr. Sam MarzoDr. Sam Marzo has served as Dean of the Stritch School of Medicine (SSOM) at Loyola University Chicago since January 2019. Trained in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, Dr. Marzo devoted a majority of his career to caring for patients, training residents and medical students, and performing clinical and basic science research. He also served as residency program directory and chair of the Otolaryngology Department.

His research and surgical interests include: surgery for hearing loss and deafness, facial paralysis, bone-anchored hearing aids, and implantable hearing devices. He has published widely in peer-reviewed articles and has presented at numerous local and national professional society conferences.

Dr. Marzo received his MD from SSOM and completed a residency in Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery at Loyola University Health System, and then pursued a fellowship in Otology, Neurotology, and Skull Base Surgery at The Otology Group at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Marzo has devoted his career to educating the next generation of physicians at SSOM and caring for Loyola Medicine patients. A member of many professional societies, including the Evans Scholars Alumni Association, Dr. Marzo is board certified in Neurotology and Otolaryngology.
