In its first-ever ranking of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Programs, U.S. News & World Report ranked Loyola University Chicago Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing 31st (tied) out of 694 U.S. programs. The 2022 U.S. News & World Report inaugural rankings of Best Undergraduate Nursing Programs, released September 13, also noted that within Illinois, the Loyola BSN Program is the second highest scoring BSN program. Rankings are based on peer surveys of deans and senior faculty of nursing schools and departments around the country.

Loyola Nursing is proud to be recognized in the top 5% of Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programs in the country,” says Lorna Finnegan, PhD, RN, FNP, FAAN Dean and Professor, Loyola Nursing. “For more than 85 years, the School of Nursing has been a leader in nursing education. Our BSN program attracts students from across the U.S. In 2020, we graduated 480 BSN-prepared students who were well-equipped to meet the complexities of healthcare and the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.”

The Loyola Nursing BSN program includes a traditional four-year option for high school graduates, an accelerated option (ABSN) for individuals with a bachelors degree in another discipline, and an RN to BSN program. In 2019, the School partnered with Loyolas Arrupe College (a two-year program that offers a rigorous liberal arts education to many first-generation college students) to launch a pathway program. Through this pathway, Arrupe students begin Loyola Nursings BSN program while pursuing their associate degree, completing both degrees in just five years. The first cohort began the BSN program through this pathway model in Fall 2020.
