About
Lisa Burkhart holds a joint appointment as a Professor in the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, Loyola University Chicago and as a Research Health Scientist in the Center of Innovation for Complex Chronic Healthcare at the Edward Hines, Jr VA Hospital. She earned a PhD in nursing from Loyola University Chicago and a master’s in public health from the University of Illinois Chicago. Clinical experiences cross the healthcare continuum in acute, ambulatory, and community-based adult and geriatric care. She primarily teaches in the doctoral program. Dr. Burkhart is a Fellow in the National League for Nursing Academy of Nursing Education.
Research Interests
Dr. Burkhart's research foci include health services research, interprofessional practice, and spirituality/spiritual care in nursing practice, as well as preventive community-based care for Veterans living with spinal cord injury. She is PI on 3 grants and site liaison for a HRSA grant in primary care (PI-Solari-Twadell). Research methods include qualitative, quantitative, psychometric, and mixed methods.
