About
Ginger Schroers, PhD, RN, CNE, joined the the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing faculty in 2011. She received her BSN from the University of Illinois at Chicago, MS from North Park University, and PhD from Villanova University. Dr. Schroers is a Jonas Scholar alumni, and a member of the National League for Nursing (NLN), Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS), and Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES).
Research Interests
Dr. Schroers’ research interests include topics related to the use of cognitive science to improve patient safety and quality of care. Her research focuses on healthcare system issues, with an emphasis on interruptions and interruption management. She is currently leading a multi-site study that is investigating deliberate practice of an innovative behavioral interruption management strategy during simulated medication administration and nurse handoff report. The strategy aims to mitigate errors and improve task efficiency.
