The School of Communication offers a variety of scholarships from our generous donors-- the Gruss Fund, Anne Liston, Gene Roguski, the Stock Family, Walkowicz Fund, Sabrina Wottreng, as well as scholarships in the names of former and much beloved SOC faculty and staff—Bren Murphy, Sam Danna, Keith Kimmons, Beth Konrad, Gilda Parrella​​. 

Over 1.7 million students are awarded scholarships annually in the United States. 99% of first-year Loyola University of Chicago students are awarded a scholarship or grant. Ease the financial stress of school by seeing if you qualify for scholarships. Loyola University of Chicago offers an array of financial aid. 70% of college students deal with financial stress. Students have enough to worry about, don’t make finances one of them. Check out additional information on scholarships at LUC.edu/finaid/scholarships/undergraduate.

SOC scholarships are designed to support students in areas such as advertising and public relations, communication advocacy, film/radio/television, journalism, as well as more broadly across areas such as media integrity or women and gender studies in communication. See below for more information and apply for many of these and other scholarships at LUC.edu/finaid/scholarships/undergraduate.

  • Sammy Danna Scholarship - To provide scholarship assistance for graduate or undergraduate students enrolled in the University’s School of Communication (SOC). Preference shall be given to students who have been or plan to be volunteers at WLUW, or to students who have taken courses in radio, television, or other electronic media. 
  • Gruss Fund - For any graduate or undergraduate students enrolled at the SOC
  • Keith Kimmons Memorial Scholarship - assistance for one or more undergraduate students enrolled at the SOC.
  • Beth Konrad Scholarship One $2500 scholarship award per year to support students enrolled in the SoC who need assistance to offset costs with internship and other financial needs
  • Ann Liston Scholarship Fund - Scholarship assistance to one or more graduate or undergraduate students enrolled at the University’s School of Communication. Preference shall be given to students who declare a major in Advertising and Public Relations.
  • Bren Murphy Memorial Scholarship is to honor and support undergraduate students who embody Dr. Murphy's spirit and who major in the School of Communication or the Women’s Studies and Gender Studies Program. See this link for more information.
  • Gilda Parrella Change the World Award to be distributed in recognition of undergraduate student achievement in peace-making and social justice.
  • Gene Rogowski Scholarship FundTo provide one or more scholarships for graduate and undergraduate students enrolled at the School of Communication who exhibit strong academic performance. Preference shall be given to students who evidence an interest in studying Journalism.
  • SOC Endowment and Media Integrity - Scholarship assistance for graduate students enrolled at the SOC who have an interest in Media Integrity. 
  • SOC Scholarships - For any graduate or undergraduate SOC student​
  • Stock Family Scholarship Fund - To provide full or partial scholarships for undergraduate students enrolled full-time in the University's School of Communication. Preference will be given to students who express interest in Advertising.
  • Walkowicz Scholarship FundScholarship to be offered, whenever possible, to a Polish undergraduate student interested in Journalism.
  • Sabrina Wottreng Public Relations Scholarship Fund - Provide scholarships to undergraduate students enrolled in the University’s School of Communication who are in their junior or senior year pursuing a degree in advertising/public relations
