Faculty Development Programs
The Center for Engaged, Learning, Teaching & Scholarship provides a number of professional development programs for faculty and staff. Our programs are open to all instructors at LUC - full time, clinical, adjunct, and staff and PhD students who teach classes.

Here is a list of dates and times for our Faculty Development Programs throughout the Fall 2024.
Faculty Certificate in Experiential Learning
CELTS offers a faculty certificate program for Loyola's faculty to build strategies in teaching experiential learning courses. Faculty will be encouraged to engage in five workshops and as a culminating project, faculty will share a course syllabus including the experiential learning course elements. Upon completion of the series, faculty participants will:
- earn a faculty development certificate in experiential learning
- be named a Community-Engaged Experiential Learning Scholar
- have priority access to Engaged Teaching and Learning Faculty Funding

Academic Internship Faculty Learning Community
The Academic Internship Faculty Learning Community is open to all those instructors and coordinators of academic interns across disciplines. This group will be directed by the questions and interests of its participants and will focus on integrating the academic internship experience of students into coursework by means of critical reflection, proactively supporting students’ pre-professional experiences, and pedagogical best practices for engaged learning courses. Active Learning Book Group: Small Teaching
Join other faculty as we read and discuss Small Teaching by James M. Lang. Come discuss the book, create active learning strategies to implement as soon as your next class period, and share active learning strategies with fellow faculty!

STEM Faculty Learning Community
Faculty Learning Communities are monthly meetings of faculty from STEM disciplines where faculty can discuss the pedagogy best practices and challenges unique to their field, trending issues, and build collegiality. Engaged Learning Community of Practice
Join instructors teaching Engaged Learning courses from around the University to discuss elements of teaching an Engaged Learning course, including different approaches to the different Engaged Learning categories, creating engaged teaching and learning spaces, working with community partners, and developing robust techniques for teaching Engaged Learning courses. The focus on various strategies and best practices will be led by the priorities of participants, as the community of practice will develop the topics and focus of the meetings.
